Hey guys!
So much like in 2024, I had the opportunity to attend the Circle City Expo. I know it sounds weird, but I was able to go with my mother again and this time we took my nephew Joey! For those who do not know, my younger brother passed away in November of 2023, and he was survived by his son Joey. I did sort of feel bad for him as at first he thought it was a wrestling show, but he was able to settle into things and he enjoyed getting to meet some wrestlers. Before I get too far into it, shout out to Scott Steiner for offering Joey a free autographed photo.
This year, as opposed to the previous year, I did not pay outright for glossy photos or anything like that with any of the wrestlers. They did have Bret Hart and Kurt Angle in attendance (whom I did not get to meet) and their lines were particularly long, as I am sure any wrestling fan can imagine. When I was younger, I wrestled in middle school and some of high school, and Kurt Angle was one of my heroes in freestyle wrestling. For the uninformed, he won a gold medal in the 1996 olympics...with a broken neck no less.
Anyway...
One of my highlights from this year was getting to meet "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels. One of the greatest indy performers of all time, he was one of the workers my middle school best friend and I would watch and constantly rave about. I always appreciated his work in Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action, and felt he would have been a great addition to the WWE but myself, and others, felt his smaller frame kept him from getting signed by them in his prime. Regardless, it was a great experience and he was a great professional.
Now I won't lie, two of the workers I was there to meet were crushes I had and currently have. Torrie Wilson (left pictured with my mom and I) was someone I first crushed on hardcore in the late 90s/early 2000s. I am sure many of you reading this feel the same darn way about her.
To the right is Blake Monroe (formerly Mariah May in AEW) and like most Americans, I am a sucker for an English accent. It was a nice surprise when I saw her, as I forgot she was going to be in attendance.
Due to the lack of timed photo shoots, our time this year was not as long as it was the year before, but that did not stop us from having a heck of a time and getting to see some of the great superstars of today and some of yesteryear. I do have to say that one of the highlights for my mom was getting to talk to Lex Luger about how she became a Christian from a young age and his personal faith journey.
To the right you will see a gallery of photos I took and the first one is of Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana, currently of AEW fame. He is personally one of my favorites currently in the company and to my nephew's credit, this was one of the first autographs he wanted us to pay for. Being the consummate professional he is, Swerve signed the photo and talked to Joey for a few moments. Of course, there is only so much dialogue that can be had between an adult and a 6 year old, but I digress.
The little guy did a great job of letting Uncle Tyler have himself a fun day and still was able to get some souvenirs of his own. At the time of writing, the 2026 Squared Circle Expo is still about 2 months away, HOWEVER, the roster of superstars that are slated to be there makes me very excited to able to attend!
Well guys, there you have it, SCX 2025. Once I attend this years, I will make sure to post photos and share with you how it all went!
Until next time,
Tc
